My daily tasks include completing VAT returns, annual accounts and tax returns whilst ensuring everything is submitted to HMRC or Companies House on time.
A typical working day for me begins by replying to all of my emails from clients, after this I begin planning my work for the day and prioritise those which are closer to deadlines than others.
Many of our clients have only just began trading and often have no past experience of doing so. Therefore, the whole process of what documents to send us, when to send them, and so on can be difficult at first. However, I always try to explain this process to our clients should they not know.
To solve problems faced by our clients, my first step is finding out what the problem actually is – this can be via email or over the phone with the client. Next, if I can solve this, I will let them know or I will research this or ask a member of the team and later get back to the client.
My favourite part about this job is the independence you are given to manage your whole day in terms of what work to do and when. It’s nice to be able to do this without a manager breathing down your shoulder.
What I like most about working for TAP is the way we all feel appreciated and respected. This is shown by the quarterly events we are given and non-micromanaged office.
The skills I believe which are most useful for this job include time management, and being a good problem solver.
On a day off, I love going on walks around the Port Sunlight River Park with my girlfriend and daughter.
Two weeks prior to writing this, I became a dad to my beautiful baby girl, Lily.
My colleague Rob described me as funny and spontaneous.
After just finishing watching Top Boy, I am stuck in those couple of weeks after a series where it is impossible to find something else to watch.
I really admire my dad, after just becoming one myself, I now understand that it is not just as simple as changing a couple of nappies!
